Isn’t it frustrating when you just can’t seem to find the perfect avocado when you’re at the store? You go through several avocados to get the “feel” of it.

If it’s too hard, it’s not ready. If it’s too soft, it’s rotten. The tricky part is when it’s “in-between” because sometimes it’s good, but other times it’s not.

Once you’ve found an avocado that is firm and the skin is very dark green to black. Next, you can follow a fool-proof trick to choose the perfect avocado every time.


To take a sneak peek of what’s inside, just discreetly flick the dried stem off the avocado.





If you see a brown patch inside, it will be a brown slimy mess. Put it back!










But if you see a bright yellow-green color, it’s perfect to eat! Take it and enjoy!

Did you know you could ripen avocados slowly in the refrigerator? Yes, they will ripen very slowly this way and typically remain good for up to two weeks. When you’re ready to eat them, take them out of the refrigerator and allow it to ripen until ready within a couple of days. So, the next time you buy one avocado too many, there's no need to worry.


Did you also know that you could freeze avocados. They store in the FREEZER very well when they are mashed. The texture of the avocado will remain the same as it was when fresh. It’s best to used frozen mashed avocados for guacamole, smoothies, salad dressings, and spreads. Keeping sliced avocados frozen probably won’t be the most favorite way, but you can try!
