Do you or a family member have the sniffles or a summer cough? Before reaching for an over-the-counter medication, read this information on how to suppress mucus and a cough naturally.
While trying to find beneficial treatments for patients who suffer from tuberculosis – an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis – they found that a mixture of raw pineapple juice, cayenne pepper, salt, and raw honey given to patients every day helped dissolve the mucus in their lungs. And in a subsequent study, research uncovered that raw extracts from pineapple could decrease mucus five times faster than over-the-counter cough syrups. Not only that, patients recovered 4.8 times faster, and exhibited a decrease in all symptoms related to coughing – especially hacking.
Fresh pineapple from the warmer regions is recognized as a medicinal fruit for many reasons. First, it contains bromelain, an enzyme that aids digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties. It’s effect on relieving inflammation make it revered for aiding conditions like arthritis. Second, it also fights infections and kills bacteria. This is from it’s high antioxidant content, it’s live, fresh enzymes, and its abundant content of Manganese.
This mineral is essential for forming healthy connective tissue and bones, and it is essential for allowing the body to absorb more calcium. It’s even beneficial for helping the body metabolize fats and carbohydrates, and increase regular nerve function. It’s clear that pineapple is a beneficial food to consume. But for it to be most medicinal, it needs to be raw, or uncooked for optimal benefit. Rid mucus and suppress a cough with the following cough tonic:
