The Top 8 Foods Even the Experts Won't Eat!

Food experts have revealed the facts on foods laden with toxins and chemicals, and have substituted them for a cleaner diet.  These experts, all who have different specialties explain why they won't eat specifically eight certain foods.

Clean eating means choosing fruits, vegetables and meats that are sold with the least possible processing.  These foods should not contain chemical additives or hormones.  Today's food producers are neither clean nor sustainable.  The results are damage to our health and environment.

I feel it's extremely important to take a first look through the eyes of these experts, who spend their lives uncovering the truth about foods that are safe to eat or not.

1) The Endocrinologist Won't Eat Canned Tomatoes -Bisphenol A
Frederick Vom Saal is an endocrinologist at the University of Missouri who studies bisphenol A (BPA).

The resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol A, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to reproductive problems, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.  The problem is that acidity (a main characteristic of tomatoes) causes BPA to absorb into your food.  Solution:  Choose tomatoes in glass bottles or buy fresh organic tomatoes.  Exposure to BPA also causes Permanent Damage In Children.

2) The Farmer Won't Eat Corn-fed Beef
Joel Salatin is co-owner of Polyface Forms and author of half a dozen books on sustainable farming.

Cattle evolved to eat grass, not grains.  But today's farmers feed their animals corn and soy beans, which fatten up the animals much faster for slaughter.  More money for cattle farmers means less nutrition for you!  Cows are herbivores and are not meant to eat corn and chicken manure.  Solution:  Grass-fed beef is higher in beta-carotene, vitamin E and Omega 3s.  Buy grass-fed beef, and if you're not sure, ask your grocer.

3) The Toxicologist Won't Eat Microwave Popcorn
Olga Naidenko is a senior scientist for the Environmental Working Group.

Chemicals, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in the lining of the popcorn bag may be linked to infertility in humans.  According to a recent study, the chemicals cause liver, testicular and pancreatic cancer.  Microwaving causes these chemicals to vaporize and migrate into your popcorn.  Solution:  Pop organic kernels the old-fashioned way, in a skillet with real butter, seasonings, and organic popcorn.

4) The Farm Director Won't Eat Non-Organic Potatoes
Jeffrey Moyer is the chair of the National Organic Standards Board

Root vegetables absorb herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides that wind up in soil.  Potatoes, the nation's most popular vegetable, are treated with fungicides during the growing season, then sprayed with herbicides to kill off the fibrous vines before harvesting.  After they're dug up, the potatoes are treated yet again to prevent them from sprouting.  Try this:  Buy a conventional potato in a grocery store and try to get it to sprout - It Won't!  Solution:  Buy organic potatoes, as washing them isn't good enough to remove the chemicals that have absorbed into the flesh.

5) The Fisheries Expert Won't Eat Farmed Salmon
Dr. David Carpenter, director of the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University of Albany, published a major study in the journal SCIENCE on contamination in fish.

Nature didn't intend for salmon to be crammed into pens and fed soy, poultry litter and chicken feathers.  Farmed salmon is lower in vitamin D and higher in contaminants, including carcinogens, PCB, brominated flame retardants, and pesticides.  Solution:  Switch to wild-caught Alaskan salmon.

6) The Cancer Researcher Won't Eat Milk Produced with Artificial Ingredients
Rick North is project director of the Campaign for Safe Food at the Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility and former CEO of the Oregon division of the American Cancer Society.

Milk producers treat their cattle with growth hormones to boost milk production.  These growth hormones increase udder infections and even pus in milk!  In people,  high levels of these hormones may contribute to breast, prostate and colon cancers.  Solution: Buy raw or organic milk.

7) The Biotech Specialist Won't Eat Conventional Soy -GMO Unfermented Soy
Michael Harris is a biotech specialist who has directed several projects including those for genetically engineered food.

Genetically engineered food is the cause of great concern due to the changes in DNA and our genetic code.  Conventional soy affects hormonal balance and causes cancer.  Solution: Fermented soy is the only soy fit for human consumption.  90% of soy in the world is genetically modified.  Check labels to ensure soy is non-GMO or organic.

8) The Organic Foods Expert Won't Eat Conventional Apples
Mark Kastel is co-director of the Cornucopia Institute, a farm policy research group that supports organic foods.

Apples are sprayed with pesticides MORE than any other fruit and they don't develop a resistance to pests, so they are sprayed frequently.  Solution: Buy organic apples or from a farmer you trust.  Apples are on the EWG's "Dirty Dozen" list for 2014.
